Wie Du vielleicht schon gemerkt hast, bin ich häufig unterwegs. Wenn man viel auf Reise geht, wird das Packen des Koffers zur Routine und ist in kurzer Zeit erledigt. Ich weiß meist ziemlich genau welche Fotoausrüstung ich am Zielort benötige, welche Kleidung ich anziehen werde und was ich erst gar nicht mitnehme.
Selbstverständlich packe auch ich manchmal etwas zu viel in meinen Koffer! Als Fotograf ist das schneller geschehen als man glaubt! Müssen es wirklich fünf Objektive sein, oder reichen nicht auch drei? Jeder kennt diese Situation…
Die Lösung ist, den Kompromiss zwischen zu viel und zu wenig zu finden!
Mit den nachfolgenden 11 Tipps zum Thema Kofferpacken kannst auch Du zum Packprofi werden!
- Schreibe eine Packliste und notiere darauf jede Kleinigkeit, die Du mitnehmen möchtest. Die Packliste stellt sicher, dass Du nichts vergisst und Du keine unnötigen Sachen einpackst.
- Lege einige Tage vor Reisebeginn die wichtigsten Gegenstände griffbereit.
- Wähle Kleidung, die sich kombinieren lässt. Denke dabei an Kleidung für sonniges und regnerisches Wetter.
- Rolle Deine Kleidung! Gerollte Kleidung verbraucht weniger Platz im Koffer.
- Packe Schuhe in eine Plastiktüte. Dies verhindert, dass sich später an den Schuhen haftender Staub und Schmutz im ganzen Koffer verteilt.
- Nimm Flip Flops mit, damit Du nicht barfuß im Hotelzimmer laufen musst.
- Nimm Bade- und Trainingsbekleidung mit. Ob Du sie brauchst oder nicht, sie nehmen nicht viel Platz im Koffer weg.
- Sortiere die vorbereiteten Gegenstände nach Zusammengehörigkeit. Du behältst so leichter den Überblick und siehst sofort ob noch etwas fehlt.
- Lege Deinen geöffneten leeren Koffer auf Dein Bett oder einen anderen freien Platz in der Wohnung. Jetzt kannst Du Deinen Koffer bequem mit den auf der Packliste notierten Gegenständen befüllen.
- Nutze die Unterteilung Deines Koffers. Packe weiche Dinge, wie zum Beispiel Kleidung in eine Kofferhälfte. Festere Gegenstände, wie zum Beispiel Schuhe, Toilettenartikel oder das Stativ, in die andere Kofferhälfte. Benötigst Du an Deinem Reiseziel ein bestimmtes Kleidungsstück, musst Du nicht den ganzen Koffer durchwühlen!
- Transportiere wichtige und wertvolle Gegenstände im Handgepäck. Dazu gehören vor allem Deine Reisedokumente, Schmuck und elektronische Geräte. Um einen Verlust oder Schaden zu vermeiden, transportiere ich meine Kamera, Objektive und den Laptop ausschließlich im Handgepäck!

As you may have noticed, I am frequently on tour. When going often on a trip, packing a suitcase becomes a routine and is done in a short amount of time. I know quite well what photo equipment I am going to need at the destination, what clothes I will wear and what I can leave at home.
Of course, sometimes I put a little bit too much in my suitcase! As a photographer that happens faster than you expect! Is it really necessary to pack five camera lenses or will three lenses do the job as well? Everyone knows this situation…
The solution is to find a compromise between too much and too little!
With the following 11 suitcase packing tips you can become a packing expert!
- Write a packing list and make a note of every little thing you want to take with you. The packing list ensures that you will not forget anything and that you don’t pack unnecessary things.
- Place the most important pieces within reach a few days before you leave.
- Choose clothes that can be combined with each other. Remember to pack clothes for sunny and rainy weather.
- Roll your clothes! Rolling your clothes will save space inside the suitcase.
- Pack your shoes in a plastic bag. That prevents, that remaining dust and dirt cannot spread inside the suitcase later on.
- Bring a pair of flip-flops, so you don’t have to walk barefoot in the hotel room.
- Bring your swimwear and workout clothes. Whether you need them or not, they don’t need a lot of space inside the suitcase.
- Sort the prepared items by type. That makes it easier to keep track and you can immediately see if something is missing.
- Put your opened empty suitcase on your bed or in another free space of your home. Now you can easily fill your suitcase with the items you wrote down on your packing list.
- Use the dividers of your suitcase. Put soft items like clothes in one half of the suitcase and hard items like shoes, toiletries or the tripod in the other half. By doing this, you don’t have to go through the whole suitcase, if you need a certain piece of clothing!
- Put important and valuable items in your carry-on luggage. These may in particular include your travel documents, jewelry and electronic devices. I always transport my camera, camera lenses and laptop in my carry-on luggage to avoid a loss or damage!
