Eine Reise an das Nordkap ist für viele ein ganz besonderes Abenteuer. Einmal im Leben am „Ende der Welt“ stehen und das nicht endende Eismeer beobachten. Auf meiner Reise durch Norwegen tat ich genau das! Es war fantastisch!
Das Nordkap ist der nördlichste Punkt Europas, der über das öffentliche Straßennetz erreichbar ist. Du erreichst ihn bequem über die Europastraße 69 und den im Jahre 1999 eröffneten Nordkaptunnel. Dieser ist 6875 Meter lang und verbindet die Insel Magerøya mit dem norwegischen Festland.
For many people, a trip to the North Cape is a very special adventure. Traveling to the “end of the world” at least once in a lifetime and overlooking the never-ending Arctic Ocean. I did it, while traveling across Norway, and it was awesome!
The North Cape is the most northern point of Europe that is accessible by public road. You can easily get there via the European route E69 and the North Cape Tunnel, which was opened up in 1999. The tunnel is 6875 meters long and connects the island of Magerøya to the Norwegian mainland.
Das steil aus dem Eismeer emporragende Schieferplateau des Nordkaps ragt an seinem höchsten Punkt stolze 307 Meter empor und wird fälschlicherweise häufig als nördlichster Punkt Europas bezeichnet. In Wahrheit bilden die Inseln des Spitzbergen-Archipels und die des Franz-Josef-Lands den nördlichsten Punkt Europas!
Am Nordkap befindet sich ein großer Parkplatz und das Besucherzentrum „Nordkaphalle“. Das in den Felsen gebaute Besucherzentrum, zum Teil unterirdisch, setzt sich zusammen aus einer Ausstellungsfläche zum Thema „Nordkap“, einem Restaurant, einer kleinen Kapelle und einem eigenen Postamt.
Postkarten, die Du in diesem Postamt aufgibst, werden mit einem speziellen Nordkap-Poststempel abgestempelt! Das ideale Geschenk für alle Postkarten- und Briefmarkensammler!
Für den Eintritt in die „Nordkaphalle“ und das Parken auf dem Nordkapplateau wird eine Gebühr erhoben.
The slate plateau of the North Cape rises at its highest point 307 meters from the ocean and is often referred to the most northern point of Europe. In reality, the island of the Spitsbergen archipelago and the island of the Franz Josef Land form the most northern point of Europe!
At the North Cape, there is a big parking area and a visitor center, called „North Cape Hall“. The visitor center, which is partly built into the underground of the cliff, has an exhibition area to the topic „North Cape“, a restaurant, a small chapel and its own post office.
If you choose to send a postcard, it will be stamped with a special North Cape postmark! It’s the perfect gift for all collectors of postcards and stamps!
Entering the „North Cape Hall“ and parking at the North Cape Plateau will be charged with a fee.
Eine Besonderheit am Nordkap ist das Wetter. Durch die direkte Meereslage wechselt es ständig. So ist es keine Seltenheit, dass innerhalb kürzester Zeit auf strahlenden Sonnenschein dunkle Wolken mit starken Windböen folgen und umgekehrt.
Due to its location right next to the ocean, the weather is always changing. It is not uncommon that bright sunshine is followed by strong winds and vice versa, within a very short time.
Während der Sommermonate besuchen jährlich rund 200.000 Touristen das Nordkap!
In den Sommermonaten Mai, Juni und Juli kannst Du am Nordkap bei klarem Wetter die sogenannte Mitternachtssonne erleben. Während dieser Zeit verschwindet die Sonne nicht mehr am Horizont, sodass es auch während der Nachtzeit hell ist.
Die Winterzeit bietet Dir genau das Gegenteil. Für ganze zwei Monate gelangt die Sonne nicht über den Horizont. Dadurch ist es auch tagsüber durchgehend dunkel.
Die lange Dunkelheit sollte Dich jedoch nicht von einem Besuch abschrecken! Zu dieser Jahreszeit lassen sich besonders gut die farbigen Nordlichter beobachten, die durch den dunklen Nachthimmel leuchten.
Every year, about 200.000 tourists visit the North Cape during the summer months!
In the summer months of May, June and July, you will be able to experience the so-called midnight sun on a clear day. During these months, the sun will not disappear below the horizon and remains also visible at nighttime.
The winter months provide you exactly the opposite. The sun will not rise above the horizon for a whole two months. Due to that, it is dark all day long.
Don’t be deterred by the darkness in the winter season! During these months, it is possible to see the colorful northern lights that are illuminating the dark night sky.
